We sell by the metre or roll. Our aim is to sell the best backing at the best price. We carry out multiple tests on all our backing. It is important that the backing is stable in all directions, is soft next to skin and will not shrink or wrinkle when washed or ironed.
Cutaway Backing (sew-in): Cutaway backing is the most commonly used backing and is suitable for most embroidery.
H/V Cutaway backing has a multi-directional grain. This means that it is stable in all directions and controls shrinkage during stitching. H/V Cutaway backing has a “soft hand” and is comfortable to wear next to the skin. Highly recommended for all knitwear, especially where writing needs to be held in place and remain readable for the life of the garment.
Tearaway Backing: Tearaway backing is used to save time. It is most useful on caps and other garments that are stable or on small low cost jobs. Tearaway backing pads up the fabric and improves stitching quality.
Fusible/Iron-on Backing: Fusible backing is ironed or pressed on to the fabric to give a stable foundation for special applications.
Special purpose toppings and backings: Sotech Marketing stocks a number of special purpose products for every type of embroidery. For example: Top priced garments and fashion garments require a backing or topping that is fully removable. There are several products that meet this need in different ways.
