Russell Franklin of RFTS Ltd has been the South Island face of Sotech Marketing Ltd since 1996.
He has many years experience with industrial sewing machinery. He has been involved with embroidery machines since 1984, and with Tajima machines since 1988, both as an owner and in the technical field.

Russell

Russell is a firm believer in after sales service and regularly travels the length of the South Island calling on our embroidery customers.  Even though he has worked on many types of embroidery machines he believes that Tajima is the leader in its field. This was reinforced by a visit to the Technical Development Centre at Tajima in 2005, where he was extremely impressed by the innovation and expertise shown there.

At RFTS Ltd we believe that with the backup and support of the team at Sotech Marketing, our customers have access to the best service, technical help and advice.

Trevor’s love of embroidery and embroidery machines started in the late 70s and early 80s. He started working with jacquard embroidery machines that read a punched card for the stitching data. To punch a card it was necessary to draw every stitch of the artwork six times larger that the finished embroidery and punch each stitch one by one.
These were exciting times and the turning point in commercial embroidery. The microprocessor digitising system was developed where a whole row of stitching could be punched onto a 25.4mm paper tape at one time. Make a mistake and start again! At the same time electronic monogramming machines with a lettering keyboard arrived. This was the start of the retail embroidery shop. Fancy being able to go to a shop and have your name embroidered while you waited! Now we have computerised on-screen digitizing from scanned or computer generated art work and faster machines with automatic colour change and thread cutting. Where will it end?

Trevor’s commitment:
“I personally check every product-line we sell. We aim to sell the best embroidery products at competitive prices.”

Trevor Brooker
